FUND THE MISSION
- We are entirely volunteer-run, meaning your money doesn't pay salaries—it pays for shipping costs to deliver books to incarcerated readers. It costs us roughly $35 to send 5 packages of books. Without your help, donated books remain on our shelves. Any amount, large or small, is used to provide free books to incarcerated readers.
- Want to donate via your employer match program or your donor-advised fund? We accept donations through most major platforms, including Benevity, Fidelity, America's Charities, PayPal, and ActBlue.
- We also accept stock donations! Our Charles Schwab account number is 4650-5214. The DTC number is 0164, and the code is 40. Email us if you have any questions. We are happy to help!
Big House Books is recognized as a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (Tax ID: 47-4076005). Donations to organizations with 501(c)(3) status may be tax deductible. Please consult your tax professional to determine deductibility.

We accept
paperback books in good clean condition
The "Yes, Please" List:
- Paperbacks (Hardcovers are banned by prisons).
- Dictionaries & thesauruses
- Composition notebooks
- Puzzle books, like crosswords, sudoku, word find
- Black Authors, fiction and non-fiction
- Trade Skills (carpentry, plumbing, electrician, computer coding, etc.)
- High demand fiction genres, including science fiction, fantasy, western, and thrillers.
- Books on tape/cd

- Hardback books (Not allowed in prisons)
- Spiral-bound books
- Binders and looseleaf paper
- Textbooks and home school curriculum
- Encyclopedias
- Children’s books
- Magazines, CDs, DVDs
- Books that are old, moldy, dirty, bug-infested, or falling apart. Please recycle!
Drop-off Info: Bring them to us at 133 Millsaps Avenue during Sunday book packing parties (12 PM - 2PM)
