For Chaplains & Wardens

  • Big House Books is a recognized book distributor permitted to send books to inmates consistent with MDOC policies and procedures. In addition to serving individual requests for books, we also send books free of charge to correctional facility libraries across Mississippi. 


  • To request a bulk book shipment for your facility library, please contact our Program Assistant, Miranda, at miranda@bighousebooksms.org. 


  • Want to ensure that your facility population is aware of Big House Books? Print off our handy brochure and post it throughout your facility. 



How to Request Books

(For Families)

  • If you have a loved one incarcerated in Mississippi, they can request books directly by writing to us.


  • Our Address: Big House Books, PO Box 1002, Jackson, MS 39215.


  • What to Include: Name, Date, Inmate ID Number, Facility Name, and 2-3 preferred genres (e.g., "Westerns," "Learn to Draw," "Mystery").


  • Note: We can’t always send specific titles (e.g., "The latest John Grisham"), but we will do our best to match the genre!
